The Killing Sr. Inspector Sam Bharucha (Nasseruddin Shah), an honest Police Officer in the Crime Branch, Mumbai Police, believes in reforming the criminals instead of condemning and punishing them. In a shoot out he kills Lallya – a youngster from a good family who has resorted to the profession of a sharp shooter for easy money. Tormented by the realization of taking a human life, Bharucha tries to locate Lallya’s parents to perform his last rites. Punappa Avadhe (Dilip Prabhawalkar) who owns a liquor den is an old timer from the underworld claims that he knows Lallya’s parents and will help Bharucha find them. The story brings forth Barucha’s journey in redeeming his mistake and gaining new perspectives on his life and society.
