SINDOOR is a soap-opera-like melodrama about the fragile bonds of love and family. Laxmi (Jaya Prada) is half of a famous singing couple when both her relationship and career are destroyed by the jealous machinations of her would-be suitor, Vijay (Sashi Kapoor). Years later, Laxmi is remarried and raising a stepdaughter, Lalita (Neelam), when Vijay returns to the scene to meddle in her new family’s affairs and once again threaten her domestic happiness.
