Synopsis(Story):

An innocent and simple girl Roopa (Vijayta Pandit) and Shekhar (Anil Kapoor) fall in love and want to get married. Finding their plans thwarted by the evil demands of dowry, they decide to elope. While Roopa, gets away from her house, Shekhar becomes the victim of an electric shock. After vainly waiting for Shekhar, when Roopa returns home, the news of their elopement had spread around the village. Unable to bear the humiliation, Roopa’s father, Chowdhry Karan Singh, attempts suicide only to saved by his friend. Feeling miserable and responsible for her father’s plight, Roopa decides to sacrifice her love for the sake of her family.

On regaining consciousness, Shekhar fights with his parents and decides to leave home and go to Roopa’s village. When he is given shelter by the very friend who saved him, Chowdhry Karan Singh becomes incensed and fixes Roopa’s wedding with Atmaram.
The village doctor was aware that Atmaram was suffering from venereal disease. Even after knowing this when Roopa’s father refuses to relent, Shekhar deicdes to fight for Roopa. Not able to bear Roopa’s suffering, her mother advises her to elope, knowing that she might end up a widow, given husband’s ego and pride.
What could happen next? Will Roopa and Shekhar find fulfillment? Will Roopa’s mother be able to bend her husband’s will into acceptance?
